You’re here because you want to learn more about having an in-home newborn session. I’ve got you covered! If you can relate to any or all of the following points, then an in-home newborn session could very likely be the right fit for you…
1. You Don’t Want to Leave Your Home
Having a brand new baby is hard! It doesn’t matter if this is your 1st baby or your 5th. Adjusting to caring for a brand new human can be overwhelming and exhausting. The beauty of an in-home newborn session is that you do not have to leave the comfort of your home! You do not have to worry about packing up a bag with extra diapers, wipes, bottles, pacifiers, onesies, etc. You will have everything you need right at your fingertips because you will be in YOUR home.
2. You Have More Than One Child
If you have other children at home – especially other YOUNG children – an in-home newborn session could definitely be the way to go. Depending on your photographer’s studio space, there may or may not even be enough space to bring other children along (my studio is quite literally a 10′ x 10′ spare room in my home). And if the studio space IS large enough to bring them along, it could turn very stressful if they become bored or restless, as studio newborn sessions can sometimes be very lengthy (I’m talking sometimes 3-4 hours).

3. You Don’t Feel Completely Comfortable With Someone Else Handling Your New Baby
In-home newborn sessions are very natural. What I mean by that is your new baby will not be taken from your arms and forced into a variety of poses by the photographer. The majority of the time, your baby will be snuggled up comfortably in YOUR arms. There will be some images taken of your new baby by him/herself, but only if they are content and comfortable. And even then, you can be the one to lie your baby down in a natural way. The photographer won’t even have to touch your new baby if you prefer him/her not to.

4. You Want to Remember Moments, Not Poses
An in-home newborn session captures your family in a more laid-back, relaxed manner. You are naturally more relaxed in the comfort of your own home versus a studio in a location or home to which you have never been before. The moments captured will feel more authentic because they will be a truer representation of your everyday life. An in-home newborn session will also capture your HOME. You will be able to look back at your images and remember what your living room, master bedroom, nursery, etc. all looked like when you brought your beautiful new baby home!
I hope you found this information on in-home newborn sessions to be helpful. Whether you choose to have an in-home newborn session or a studio newborn session, I am certain of one thing – you will never regret having beautiful images of your new baby!
